In addition, each piece is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Q. Can I find your products in stores?
A. No. All POMOFO Gallery functional art tables are available exclusively from this website. If any products become available at brick and mortar shops it will be announced on this website.
Q. Are your paints and finishes safe?
A. Yes. POMOFO Gallery uses only non-toxic, water-based paints and finishes.
Q How do I clean my new table without harming the finish and/or art work?
A. To maintain the finish, clean surface with a damp washcloth and wipe dry. Cleaners such as Pledge and Murphy's Oil Soap are not recommended because they leave a dull residue on the finish. Surfaces may be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use household cleaners or window cleaners. Paste wax is not recommended because it builds up and yellows.
Q. Do you do custom work?
A. No. All art work is designed solely by the artist.
Q. Do you make your own furniture?
A. No. The furniture used by POMOFO Gallery is made by a third party manufacturer and has been selected as a canvas/medium for its durability, traditional craftsmanship, and the wood's ability to accept paint.
Q. Why is the color of the art work slightly different than what I saw on your website?
A. The colors you see in your internet browser are dependent on how well or how badly your monitor is calibrated, e.g., brightness, contrast, etc. Potentially you could look at the same website on several monitors and find slight variations in the colors based on each monitor's settings. Unless your monitor is severely out of calibration these differences in color should be negligible. POMOFO Gallery is not responsible for the misinterpretation of color due to un-calibrated monitor settings. Monitor calibration is essential for emulating colors you see in real life on screen and there are many resources on the internet that will provide you with information on how to properly calibrate your monitor.
Q. What kind of wood are your pieces made of?
A. Each piece is made of solid parawood. The density of parawood is comparable to that of birch or ash. It possesses an open grain similar to mahogany. Its strength is rated the same as maple and has also been referred to as Malaysian Oak for this reason. Parawood is native to the Amazon Region of South America. Information can be traced back to Christopher Columbus. It was during his second visit to South America, that he wondered about the heavy black ball the natives were using in games. This ball was made from the vegetable gum of the parawood tree. Later historians would marvel at the substance, which bounced so much when thrown to the ground it appeared to be alive. In the 19th Century Henry Wickham, of England, transported some seeds to England for germination. The resulting seedlings were then taken to the Malay Peninsula for planting, where began the great Rubber Plantations of Malaysia. After 25 to 30 years of latex production, tapped in the same manner syrup is tapped from maple trees, the tree ceases to produce sufficient quantities of latex. The tree is cut for processing in the manufacture of fine furniture and a new tree is planted in its place. This is an example of man’s ability to fully utilize our natural resources without harming the environment.
Q. Why are there only two designs of which to choose from?
A. POMOFO Gallery is run solely by the artist who handles everything from the artwork to the website to the order fulfillment process. Each table is etched, painted and finished by hand thus requiring a fair deal of time for completion. The website will be updated to reflect current availability of each edition as well as the introduction of new art designs.
