About POMOFO Gallery
Thank you for visiting POMOFO Gallery. My name is Jay Mora and I started to paint tables shortly before moving to Seattle, WA. The catalyst for this endeavor was my girlfriend's search for a new coffee table and the many trips we made to furniture stores to try and find the right one. What we found time after time were coffee tables that offered no character or ultra modern designs that had no warmth.
Frustrated in her search for the right coffee table, I suggested that she purchase an unfinished table that I would use as a blank canvas and this way I could put my creative instinct and artistic background to use and create an original functional art piece that would suit her eclectic taste. A few weeks later my work was done and thankfully my girlfriend was pleased with the results.
After moving to Seattle in the fall of 2004 for a much needed change of scenery and disillusioned with finding another 9-5 job; I was encouraged by my friends to go into business selling limited edition coffee and end tables based on original designs that I would etch and paint onto each solid wood surface.
I was intrigued with the idea of offering this kind of functional art and in 2005 I started to put my ideas together for what would become POMOFO Gallery.
2007 is when I opened the virtual doors to POMOFO Gallery where I now offer my limited edition coffee and end tables. The designs I currently offer are inspired by the funky and colorful decor that I have come across in the bars and cafes of New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and of course Seattle. I try to convey a modern aesthetic while retaining the warmth that traditional craftsman furniture offers.
